ELECTION RESULTS TRACKING

Vote-by-mail ballots dropped off on Election Day and conditional voter registration (CRV) ballots will be verified and counted in the days following Election Night. In addition, any vote-by-mail ballots delivered by the postal service, postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 12, 2024, will be verified and counted. 

Election results are unofficial until December 5, 2024, when the Riverside County Registrar of Voters certifies the election results. At that time, the results are forwarded to the California Secretary of State.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The City of Canyon Lake is a General Law city governed by a five-member City Council. Members of the City Council serve staggered terms, with either two or three seats open for election every two years. The City Clerk serves as the Elections Officer and is responsible for the issuance and acceptance of nomination papers and is the official Filing Officer for campaign statements.  

The City consolidates its election activities with the County of Riverside, which provides voter registration, ballot materials, vote centers and other critical election functions.  

 

IMPORTANT DATES

September 26 - Voter Registration Guides are mailed to all active registered voters in Riverside County

October 7 - Vote-by-Mail ballots are mailed to all active registered voters in Riverside County

October 21 - Last day to register to vote

October 25 - Vote centers open across Riverside County

November 5 - Election Day

December 5 - Riverside County Registrar of Voters certifies the election results

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS TO RUN FOR CITY OFFICE?

To run for City Office, you must be:

    • A United States citizen;
    • 18 years of age or older; and 
    • A resident and registered voter of the City of Canyon Lake at the time nomination papers are issued.
 
CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMITS 

The City of Canyon Lake follows State guidelines related to campaign contribution limits. For current limits visit the FPPC website HERE.  Please note these limits are subject to change.
