Project Overview

Railroad Canyon Road Safety Improvement Project

The City of Canyon Lake is improving safety along Railroad Canyon Road through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Work focuses on visibility, safer crossings, and managing turning movements on this key east–west connector that links residents to SR-74, I-215, schools, shopping, and medical services.

Project Description

The project will consist of constructing safety improvements along Railroad Canyon Road including, but not limited to, the installation of concrete median barriers, median roadway lighting, chevron signs and other warning devices, improvements to pedestrian crossings, irrigation and planting replacement, and an extended protected eastbound left-turn lane at Canyon Lake Drive and Railroad Canyon Road. Traffic Signal Modifications will take place at the intersection of Canyon Lake Drive South & Railroad Canyon Road.

What to expect during construction

Construction is scheduled for Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Expect intermittent lane closures, reduced speeds, brief driveway flagging, and occasional night work if required to minimize peak-hour impacts. Allow extra time when traveling through the work zone and follow all posted signs.
