Canyon Lake Needs You!: Volunteers Needed for Annual Flag Placement 🇺🇸

2026 Memorial Day Volunteer Flyer

Each year, the City of Canyon Lake proudly honors our nation’s heroes by placing American flags throughout the community ahead of Memorial Day. This tradition serves as a meaningful reminder of the service and sacrifice made by the men and women who have served our country.

To make this annual display possible, we rely on the support of our community. Volunteers play an important role in helping collect, prepare, and place the flags that line Canyon Lake’s streets each Memorial Day.

Volunteer Opportunities for 2026

There are three ways to get involved this year, whether you have a few minutes or a few hours to give.

From collecting last year’s flags, to helping prepare them for installation, to placing them throughout the community before Memorial Day weekend, every volunteer effort helps continue this special tradition.

Students in need of volunteer or community service hours are especially encouraged to participate.

3 Ways to Get Involved

1. Help Collect Last Year’s Flags

Residents are invited to help us gather flags from last year’s display.

If you still have flags from the previous placement, they may be dropped off at Canyon Lake City Hall during normal business hours. These flags will be collected and respectfully retired.

This is a simple but meaningful way to support the annual Memorial Day display and help ensure retired flags are handled respectfully.

2. Flag Tying & Preparation

Before the flags can be placed throughout Canyon Lake, they must be assembled and prepared for installation.

  • Dates: March 30 – April 2, 2026
  • Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: Canyon Lake City Hall

Volunteers will help tie and prepare the flags that will later be placed around the community ahead of Memorial Day. This is a great opportunity to contribute, even if you only have a short amount of time available.

3. Flag Placement Before Memorial Weekend

Once the flags are ready, volunteers will help place them throughout Canyon Lake in preparation for Memorial Day weekend.

  • Dates: May 20 – May 22, 2026

This is one of the most meaningful parts of the tradition, as volunteers help create the beautiful display that residents and visitors see throughout the community.

Students Encouraged to Volunteer

Students looking for community service or volunteer hours are strongly encouraged to participate.

Volunteer hours and signatures can be provided for students who need documentation for school or service programs.
