🎓 City of Canyon Lake $1,500 Scholarship Essay Contest 🎓

The City of Canyon Lake is pleased to announce the 2026 Scholarship Essay Contest for graduating high school seniors. This annual program awards $1,500 to one eligible Canyon Lake student to support their educational goals.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be high school seniors.
  • Applicants must reside in the City of Canyon Lake.
  • One scholarship recipient will be selected.
  • The selected recipient must attend the City Council Meeting on May 13, 2026, at which the scholarship will be awarded.

Essay Guidelines

  • Submit an original, unpublished essay between 750 and 850 words.
  • Applicants must respond to the following essay prompt:
    • Describe something your community has taught you that you could not have learned in school. Explain why this lesson was important to you and how it has shaped who you are or how you approach your future.
  • One entry per student.
  • A résumé is required as part of the application.
  • Essays must be submitted via email in PDF or Word format to mgonzales@canyonlakeca.gov.

Important Dates

  • Application Opens: Tuesday, February 3, 2026
  • Submission Deadline: Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
