The City’s General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
What's on the Local Ballot?
Canyon Lake voters will consider two City Council seats and one local ballot measure.
City Council
Two City Council seats will be up for election for full four-year terms. The candidates, listed in ballot order, are:

Measure E
If approved by voters, Measure E, the Canyon Lake Public Safety and Emergency Response Protection Measure, will establish a 1% local sales tax (one cent per dollar), estimated to generate approximately $1.14 million annually. Revenue generated by Measure E would be restricted to public safety and emergency response purposes and locally controlled.

Make a Plan to Vote - Vote Early!
- Registered to Vote? The last day to register to vote online for the November 3, 2026, General Election is October 19. Visit https://registertovote.ca.gov/.
- Return your ballot. County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by October 5. Ballots can be dropped off at a drop-off location, county elections office, or returned by mail after this date.
- Skip the lines on Election Day. The first vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties on October 24. In-person early voting locations throughout California will be open on Saturday, October 31.
- Get a postmark: Mail your ballot early - mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before November 3. Tip: Get a manual postmark from a postal employee inside a United States Post Office.
- Election Day. November
3 is the last day to vote in person or return a ballot. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for
in-person voting and ballot drop-off.
Ballot Drop-Off Location
Voters can drop off their ballots at City Hall during normal business hours beginning October 5, 2026, through November 2, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and on Election Day, November 3, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

City Hall will serve as a four-day vote center. Dates and hours will be posted as they become available.
General Information
The City of Canyon Lake is a General Law city governed by a five-member City Council. Members of the City Council serve staggered terms, with either two or three seats open for election every two years.The City Clerk serves as the Elections Officer and is responsible for the issuance and acceptance of nomination papers and is the official Filing Officer for campaign statements.
The City consolidates its election activities with the County of Riverside, which provides voter registration, ballot materials, vote centers and other critical election functions.
