June 2, 2026, California Primary Election
Key Information:
- The last day to register to vote for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election is May 18, 2026.
- All California active registered voters will receive a ballot for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election.
- County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by May 4, 2026.
- Ballots can be dropped off at a drop-off location, county elections office, or returned by mail.
- The first vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter's Choice Act counties on May 23, 2026.
- In person early voting locations throughout California will be open on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
- June 2 is the last day to vote in-person or return a ballot by 8:00 p.m. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than June 2. If mailing on Elections Day, get a hand-stamped postmark from a postal employee inside a United States Post Office.
Canyon Lake Council Chambers will serve as a 4-day vote center from May 30 - June 2, 2026.
- The vote center will be open May 30 - June 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for in-person voting.
- On Election Day, the vote center will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for in-person voting.
Ballots can be dropped off at City Hall beginning May 4, 2026, through Election Day, during normal business hours.

The City of Canyon Lake is a General Law city governed by a five-member City Council. Members of the City Council serve staggered terms, with either two or three seats open for election every two years.
The City Clerk serves as the Elections Officer and is responsible for the issuance and acceptance of nomination papers and is the official Filing Officer for campaign statements.
The City consolidates its election activities with the County of Riverside, which provides voter registration, ballot materials, vote centers and other critical election functions.
WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS TO RUN FOR CITY OFFICE?
To run for City Office, you must be:
- A United States citizen;
- 18 years of age or older; and
- A resident and registered voter of the City of Canyon Lake at the time nomination papers are issued.
